Navigating the World of CBD: Full-Spectrum vs. Isolates

The cannabis plant contains over 100 active compounds known as cannabinoids. When creating CBD products, manufacturers can choose to include a variety of these compounds or just CBD on its own. Understanding the differences between full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolates can help you find the best product for your needs.

Full-spectrum CBD

Full-spectrum CBD  contains all of the natural cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and other compounds found in the cannabis plant, including up to 0.3% THC. This small amount of THC won’t cause any psychoactive effects but allows you to benefit from the “entourage effect” - the synergy between cannabinoids and other plant components.

Broad-spectrum CBD

Broad-spectrum CBD is similar to full-spectrum, containing a wide array of compounds, except it has the THC removed. This allows you to still get some entourage benefits without ingesting THC.

CBD Isolate

CBD isolates are the purest form of CBD available. During extraction, everything is removed except for the CBD molecules. This means you won’t get any THC or other cannabinoids with an isolate.

What type of CBD is better?

It really depends on your personal needs and preferences. If you must avoid THC due to drug testing or sensitivity, broad-spectrum or isolate products are your best bet. Some research indicates full-spectrum CBD may provide enhanced effects compared to isolates, but isolates can allow you to take higher doses of CBD itself. At Eresos, we choose to formulate our products with CBD isolates, allowing us to provide the highest purity CBD. This gives our customers the confidence that they are avoiding any THC.

Always review up-to-date certificates before purchasing any CBD to ensure you’re getting a high-quality, reliable formula. You can find either a Cosmetic Product Safety Report or a Novel Foods certificate on every product page on our website.

While more research is still needed, existing studies show promising results for CBD’s ability to potentially manage pain, anxiety, sleep disorders and other conditions. By understanding the differences between CBD formats, you can find the right product to suit your wellness needs.
